How to Find Illustrations in Sermonary

A well-placed story or analogy can bring your sermon to life, helping your congregation connect with biblical truths in a deeper way. That’s why Sermonary’s Illustration Library is designed to give you quick access to powerful, relevant sermon illustrations—all in one place.

There are two ways to access our illustration library:

  • Using the Research Suite

  • Using the Illustration Block (when inside Blocks Editor mode)

We'll explain both options below...

Access Illustrations using the Research Suite

  1. Choose one of your existing sermons, or start writing a sermon using either a template, our Blocks Editor, or the Open Editor
  2. Click on the Research Suite in the right-hand panel.

  1. Select the tab "Sermon Illustrations"

Search for the Perfect Illustration

Once inside the Illustration Library, you can:

Browse by topic – Whether you’re preaching on faith, grace, perseverance, or any other theme, easily find illustrations that match your message.

Search by keyword – Type a keyword (e.g., “forgiveness” or “discipleship”) to instantly pull up relevant stories and examples.

Filter by Scripture reference – Want an illustration that ties directly to a specific passage? Enter a Bible verse to see related content.

Add an Illustration to Your Sermon in One Click

When you find an illustration you’d like to use:

  1. Click on the illustration to preview it.
  2. Select "Add to Sermon" to insert it directly into your sermon draft.
  3. Adjust or personalize the illustration as needed to fit your style and message.

🚀 Pro Tip: Save your favorite illustrations for future use by adding them to your "IDEAS" section. This way, you can easily access them when preparing future messages.

Now here is the other way to access our illustration library using the "Illustration Block."
